Here’s how I got started:

The first business I looked at to make money from home was MLM. I found an excellent company and built the business on a very part-time basis around my full-time graphic design job. This meant I wasn’t under financial pressure as I didn’t leave the job until my MLM income exceeded my design income. Any home-based business takes time to build if it is a legitimate business, so I can recommend from personal experience to build your home business around existing commitments to start with.

My income from that business still comes in today, 13 years on, even though I only spend around half a day a week on it. That’s because I reached the level where I have a pension-style income. This is a great way to get paid and I cannot recommend it highly enough. My time is freed up to pursue other businesses. If you like people and have a giving attitude you could do well in this industry. You need to stick at it long-term and have a “never quit” attitude. Make sure you find a good company before putting in your time and effort.

I decided to also make money online a few years ago. I liked the potential of being able to create a substantial income on a part time basis. After all, there’s no point having money if you are so busy making it that you don’t have time to enjoy life!

Making money online was not easy at all to start with. I spent a couple of years just learning all I could and trying different things out. There seemed to be lots of people on the internet promising instant wealth, but I have found the reality is, you need to learn a lot, invest in good information and then work hard!

I like affiliate marketing a lot because you don’t need your own products to sell, which helps your cash flow and you don’t need to post products either, or deal with customers yourself. So, it’s time-effective and cost-effective and you can make a lot of money once you know what you are doing.

The best method I have found to make money from home online is with a website. This can combine well with affiliate marketing. It’s not the fastest method to make money but it’s guaranteed to be successful if you do it the way I did, and you can create an income that will keep on growing over the years ahead. I would rather have a long-term passive income than short-term money overnight. It’s a very cost-effective way to make money too, because the way I did it, I never need to spend any money on advertising.

If you write down what you personally want from your home business it will help you find the right one for you. For example do you want a little extra income? Do you want unlimited income? Do you want an income that, in time, will come in whether you work or not? Do you want to work full-time or part-time? Do you want to make money fast or is gradual ok for you? Do you want creative work? Easy work?
